We continued on up Salt Creek past several natural arches. The whole time we saw tons of deer tracks. We also came across two sets of tracks that we could not readily identify. Later my aunt and uncle would tell us that one of the tracks probably belonged to a large coyote or a wolf and the second set of tracks probably belonged to a big lynx or a juvenile mountain lion. We made great time all day because we were not carrying those heavy packs. By about 3 pm we had made it to the edge of Big Pocket and could see Cathedral Butte and the big pocket ruins. I had hoped to get close to the ruins but from our vantage we could see no easy approach. So we decided to head back and not push it as neither of us were equipped to spend the night outside. We headed back to camp and made pretty good time. Back at camp Matt cooked up some couscous with some salmon. The only problems with eating so well is that it is a pain in the butt to haul around. Tomorrow the plan is to get up early and bang out as many miles as possible.
